Working with selections (Mr. Fruithead)
Selections
Rectangular
Elliptical
Lasso
Polygonal Lasso
Magnetic Lasso
Magic Wand

add to selection = SHIFT
subtract from selection = ALT

Selection expands from the center=  use ALT while click and dragging

Step Backwards = CNTRL + ALT + Z
Step Forward = SHIFT + CNTRL + Z

drag + CNTL = MOVE
drag + ALT = Copy

Hide Tools = TAB

CUT/MOVE = use CNTL while clicking and dragging

COPY/MOVE = ALT + while clicking and dragging
if you use shift in coordination with these it will only move in 45 degree increments

IMAGE – CROP

FILE- SAVE AS- LAST NAME_PROJECT NAME

Removal

Use the rubber stamp tool (ALT left mouse click sets where it draws from).

Also smudge tool.

Vary the sizes of your brush- use a feathered edge.

Use the Rubber Stamp tool with a feathered brush.

Lesson #3

Motion Blur

EXAMPLE-REAL MOTION BLUR
CNTRL A- selects all
CNTRL C- copies selection
CNTRL V- TWICE- makes two new layers
Layer 1 – FILTER- BLUR- MOTION BLUR
Layer 2- LAYER- ADD LAYER MASK- REVEAL ALL

Make sure that your foreground color is black
Select Brush Tool
Change the brush size

paint on layer 2 to make see through to layer 1

 

Lesson #4
Popping Color

CNTRL A- selects all
CNTRL C- copies selection
CNTRL V- TWICE- makes two new layers
Layer 1 – IMAGE- ADJUST- DESATURATE
Layer 2-Use the magic wand with the tolerance set at 24.  Select all of the background.-Press delete or backspace to remove the background

Layer 2- LAYER- ADD LAYER MASK- REVEAL ALL

Set your foreground color to black.

Chose a very large brush and draw your mask making the background of layer 2 transparent through to Layer 1.

USE ONLY APPROPRIATE IMAGES

No images of Tupac, Bob Marley, Snoop Dog, M and M, Sublime, or any other artist who openly advocates for drug use, violence, gang affiliation, alcohol use, tobacco use, etc, will be accepted. Use of such imagery will result in zero credit for the entire project.

All images need to conform to the Stockdale High dress code. (See Dress Code for Details)

Building on the skills you learned with Mr. Fruithead, you will be creating a personal collage. You may bring images from home(.jpg), or find images off of the Internet. All images should be representational of you and your interests. Make sure to keep images appropriate for school. (See LAB RULES-CLICK HERE) Also remember that some images are not available because of the district Internet Filters. This is something you need to plan for as you budget your time for the project.

Technical Specifications-

  • 10 inches wide
  • 8 inches high
  • Resolution is 72
  • Transparent Background
  • At least 30 images gathered
  • 25 images must be used in collage
  • Collage must be Black and White
